SAVE 6000 MISSOURI KIDS
SAVE 6000 & Buddy Pack Sunday
As you’ve heard, costs for the Buddy Pack program have risen dramatically and the need for funding has never been greater. The program may have to be severely cut back or at worse eliminated due to rising costs. Since funding is already on pace for the program in Boone and Cole counties, children in those counties will most likely not be affected. But that leaves 6,000 students in 30 other counties who rely on the program.
We think we can do something to sustain this important program for these children in need. So we are starting a movement in central Missouri called SAVE 6000! The cost to The Food Bank to save one Buddy Pack for a month is only $15. If we all give $1 and tell 14 of our friends to do the same, we’ve just SAVED one Buddy Pack. Surely we can all give $1 to the Food Bank.
You can give to them directly at Adopt A Buddy
Also, to help spread the word about SAVE 6000! some of the sororities and fraternities at MIZZOU are making SAVE 6000! wristbands. They will gladly give you one to wear and one to pass on to every one of your friends who joins us. If you want you can even make your own and have your friends do the same. The point is to unite, spread the word, and have people commit to the cause.
To get your wristbands please email Kaleigh Turner
Finally, Subway Restaurants is extending invitations to the other restaurant owners in Mid-Missouri asking them to participate in a region-wide, one-day fundraiser on March 18th, called Buddy Pack Sunday! The point is to invite everybody to eat out on Buddy Pack Sunday to save the program. A total of 35 area Subways have agreed to participate by having Food Bank collection jars in-store and donating $1 per sub and 25 cents per large drink. Hopefully, several other restaurant owners will join us and create a fundraiser of their own. This will give people more choices and make it very attractive for lots people to eat out on Buddy Pack Sunday.
Please feel free to pass this email on to everyone you know. Together, we can unite and SAVE 6000! kids from weekend hunger.
UPDATE:
In 2 weeks we’ve helped the food bank raise $160k for the Buddy Pack program. 700 Buddies have been adopted and 120 people have committed to donating $15 per month. Please help us keep the momentum going.
